Superb versatility from our Grove GMK 4100L
Our compact four axle Grove GMK 4100L was perfectly suited to a challenging site on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent.
We designed and delivered a contract lift for our customer FCC Environmental. The task was to replace a redundant weighbridge with a brand new unit weighing 11 tonnes. The new weighbridge needed to be lifted into position, ready for installation by engineers.
Our team also removed the old weighbridge, lifting it on to waiting transport for removal.
We had limited options for the crane’s working position, due to the layout of the site.
In addition, the site was sloping so we planned a bespoke matting arrangement to ensure that the crane mats supporting the outriggers would have a level base. We include matting design, where it is required, as part of our contract lift planning service. As well as a risk assessment and method statement we produce CAD (computer aided design) plans. These plans show the exact position of the crane and mats for the customer to review in advance.
Our transport division delivered the mats using an 18t lorry carrying a 13.5t crane and manoeuvred them into position for our team to set up the crane safely.
